This training, presented by Tina Schumacher of Voices Against Violence, provides a comprehensive, trauma-informed assessment of domestic violence, highlighting an imbalance of power and a pattern of coercive behaviors as core components of this type of abuse. The presentation will address societal norms, gender stereotypes, and myths that tend to blame the victim and contribute to rates of intimate partner and family violence. Participants will gain an understanding of barriers victims face when trying to end a relationship, learn about available resources, and develop skills for assessing for domestic violence and referring victims and survivors to confidential advocates.
Registration is required. Lunch will be provided.
